Accelerated Learning

  • High School Based College Credit - including Dual Credit, Sponsored Dual Credit, and Assessment-Based Learning Credit, provide students with secondary and postsecondary credit for a course offered in a high school during regular school hours and taught by high school instructors (examples of local program names are: College Now, The Willamette Promise, Pathfinders, and others all over the state)
  • Expanded Options allows students to attend an eligible postsecondary institution eitherfull- or part-time to complete their high school diplomas and earn college credits with costs paid for by the local school district (such as Expanded Options, some Early and Middle Colleges) 
  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs sometimes referred to as “Two Plus Two" or "Tech Prep" offer career-focused pathways aligning curriculumand articulation of credit between high schools and postsecondary programs
  • Online college courses specifically designed for high school students
  • Advanced Placement programs using approved syllabi and College Board copyrighted national examinations created in partnership with college faculty.  Students can earn college credit once they enroll in college.   • International Baccalaureate is an internationally benchmarked course of study that trains teachers and uses ongoing program review and international student assessments. Students can earn credit when they enroll in college depending on their score on the IB assessment and the policies of the college or university they attend. How the course credit counts in your major will vary by institution and area of study.
